Sea Scouting Adventure

The Potawatomi District is home to a unique Scouting program called a Sea Scout Ship. Sea Scouting is a division of Venturing and is focused on open water activities such as sailing, boating and scuba diving. Our Sea Scout Ship is based out of Wilmette Harbor and the Sheridan Shores Yacht Club. Currently, we have a 19-foot yacht and a 33-foot Flying Scot for Scouts to use to learn to sail. Our Sea Scout ship is opening up the opportunity for Packs, Troops and Crews to come out and learn about sailing and even spend some time on Lake Michigan! If you are interested in finding out more about this amazing opportunity, please contact Chuck Gilbert at or (847) 949-2913 or email Wes Weems at
